Uber font

image of the official Uber font

The Uber font that is used in the official logo for the world’s largest ride-sharing company is a typeface by the name of Uber Move. It was designed and created by a font author called Jeremy Mickel.

The current logo is an extended version of the word “Uber.” Except for the first, all letters are now lowercase. Since the typeface is bold, the white background and black letters stand out against it. The “U” now appeared strange and dissimilar from the one in the graphic symbol. With its upper ends bent inward, it served as the object’s visual center. The left end was bent out and lengthened by the developers. All other characters were normalized, smoothed, and their serifs were eliminated. Grayish blue and silver-white were the predominant hues. Although the new version didn’t have the same appearance as the old one, it still focused on transportation and road-related issues.

About the Uber brand

The San Francisco-based company Uber Technologies, Inc. (Uber) offers ride-hailing services that let subscribers book a car and driver to take them somewhere nearly identical to a taxi. Uber also ventures into food delivery (through Postmates and Uber Eats), courier services, packages, and goods transportation. Garrett Camp, a programmer and co-founder of StumbleUpon, and Travis Kalanick, who had recently sold his Red Swoosh enterprise for $19 million in 2007, founded Uber in 2009. Today, the company operates in about 10,000 cities in more than 70 countries.
