The name of the font that was used to create the original Miami Vice tv show logo is a typeface that goes by the name of Broadway. It was produced by the American typeface designer Morris Fuller Benton who lived in Milwaukee (Wisconsin) between 1872 and 1948. During this period, Morris worked at the American Type Founders corporation where he produced many significant typography items, with his Broadway font being one of the most popular.

The Broadway font became extremely popular during the 1980’s when it was used to create the main logo in the Miami Vice tv show. Over the years we have seen that this typeface has become synonymous with all things related to the city of Miami in the USA.
