Firefox font

image of the official Firefox font

The Firefox font that is used in the official logo for this popular open-source web browser is a typeface by the name of Sharp Sans. It was designed and created by the design team at Sharp Type foundry.

Firefox’s round icon distinguishes its browser from other popular browsers like Google Chrome and Safari. The Firefox globe logo has become purple in 2019, as a way to give users a sense of community and belonging. Not many people realize that the fox is not represented on the Firefox icon. In fact, it is a red panda, which is nicknamed Firefox in English. The panda’s coloring is reflected on the emblem of the browser itself. There is no letter on the logo itself, there is a very colorful image of a red panda and a globe. Instead the words “firefox” are displayed alongside in a plain and easy to read typeface which is positioned to the right of the logo. The use of colors such as orange and dark pink creates an interesting dynamic. Firefox’s logo is set in a sans-serif font, which is typically displayed in a white color. The use of the Sharp Sans font in the current Firefox logo text gives this brand an approachable and friendly feel, whilst maintaining a high level of legibility.
