The KISS font is perhaps the most recognisable music themed font of all time. The name of the font that looks most similar to lettering used in the official KISS logo is a typeface by the name of Die Nasty. It was created by Raymond Larabie who is a Canadian font author. It was released via his Typodermic design agency in October 1998 and distributed with a Free For Personal Use license.

The Die Nasty font includes all uppercase and number characters (there are no lowercase characters included). It has been released as an OTF font. (OTF is a font format developed by the Microsoft Corporation and is a more advanced version of the TTF format. It is compatible with all PC and Mac computers)

About the KISS font and logo

The initial design of the KISS font was created by the band’s guitarist Ace Frehley. Their music style is categories as being a combination of Hard Rock and Glam Metal. The band was extremely popular in the late 1970’s and early 80’s. Due to the band’s popularity we see the KISS logo and associated font being used in album covers, t-shirts, posters, and even pinball machines. The KISS tongue logo is also a widely recognised piece of branding from teh band. The original members of the KISS were:

  • Paul Stanley (vocals, rhythm guitar)
  • Gene Simmons (vocals, bass)
  • Ace Frehley (lead guitar, vocals)
  • Peter Criss (drums)
