About the Lexus typeface
In 1983 in Japan, while having a secret meeting, Dr. Eiji Toyoda, Chairman of Toyota, dared a team of designers, engineers, and strategists to come up with a luxury car to go against Nissan and Honda’s premium brands. Toyota had to innovate, resulting in the birth of Lexus. After 6 years, the Lexus brand and its first model were born. A whopping 3,000 units were sold in the first month after its launch. The brand was hailed as the overall top brand for customer satisfaction and became the USA’s number one luxury import brand in 1991 and the USA’s top-selling luxury brand in 1998. Among its innovations were the LED rear lights, air suspension, and Rear Pre-Crash Safety system.
