Over the years Manchester United football club have had four different emblems, with the first one being unveiled before the 1963 FA Cup Final. Since 1990 their logo has not changed much, with the notable exception being the removal of the words ‘football club’ in 1998 and the placement of the word ‘United’ at the bottom of the banner. This was done to make the wordmark appear clearer and more legible. The distinctive typeface features a simple san-serif font, while the core colour scheme of red and yellow, as well its auxiliary colours of black and white, have remained too.
