Sports comedies took on a fresher face in 1996 when Space Jam was released starring Michael Jordan and everyone’s favorite animated bunny, Bugs Bunny. The film tells the story of how Michael is enlisted by the Looney Tunes to help them beat a group of aliens at a basketball match. In 1997, a year after its release, the film won 5 awards including Top Box Office Films at the ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards and Best Use of Animation in a Motion Picture Trailer at the World Animation Celebration.
