The Volkswagen font that is used in the current logo is a typeface by the name of VW Head. It is a custom design Sans Serif font created specifically for the Volkswagen motoring group and was first released in 2015.
The VH Head font replaces the VH Headline font which had been in use up until 1997. This new updated font comes in both Regular and Bold styles, and includes a full set of Uppercase, Lowercase, and Numeric character glyphs. The image below shows both of these fonts in action, and how the font lettering has been applied to the logo for the Volkswagen Golf 7.
There is also a companion font called VW Text. As the name suggest, this lettering style has been mainly used as the updated text font for Volkswagen literature. You can get yourself a copy of both of these fonts by clicking on the Download link below. Please remember that both of these fonts are licensed as Free For Personal use only.
A German word that means "people's car," Volkswagen, which was originally known as Gesellschaft zur Vorbereitung des Deutschen Volkswagens mbH, was state-owned by Germany. In 1960, the German government denationalized the company after selling 60% of its stock to the public. In 1972, Volkswagen's Beetle dominated the automotive world as it surpassed Ford Model T's record sales, making it the most produced car in history.
